The tranquil evening of Wednesday, February 29th, 2012, was made beautiful with the fine weather in Lagos as members of the Nigeria-Britain Association and invited guests made their way to the residence of the British Deputy High Commissioner for their Annual Patrons’ Night and Welcome Cocktail Party, held in honour of Mr. Peter West, the new British Deputy High Commissioner to Nigeria.
The event which was sponsored by Sproxil Nigeria Limited, an organization that specializes in using mobile technologies to help fight counterfeiting of drugs and products, was well attended by captains of industries, government officials and members of the diplomatic corps.
While the Patron of the Nigeria-Britain Association, Mr. Akintola Williams, CBE, CFR, was visibly but unavoidably absent, Mr. Sammy Olagbaju and Mr. Philip Hall, OBE, two of his Vice Patrons, admirably filled in for him at the event and welcomed all present.
The President of the Association, Mr. Tunde Arogunmati, gave a brief on the event and the strategic intent of Nigeria-Britain Association. He enjoined all present to take advantage of the diverse opportunities presented by the forum to build concrete synergies across the two nations and engender growth and development for both economies.
The event provided the British Deputy High Commissioner, Mr. Peter West, the opportunity to share the key priorities of the British government in Nigeria with those in attendance. He laid particular emphasis on trade development, partnership and security as areas he and the current British Administration hope will help forge deeper and mutually responsible relationship between the two nations and their citizens.
Mr. Tomi Davies, Executive Director of the sponsoring organization, Sproxil Nigeria Limited, gave a presentation to the guests about the services provided by the company. He shared the details of the NAFDAC Mobile Authentication System which uses Sproxil’s MPA technology that combines secured interlocking technologies to fight counterfeiting and protect brands globally.
The evening had an ambience of fun and pleasantness as the guests were treated to Nigerian finger food, British hor dourves and a variety of cocktails while availing themselves of the business networking opportunities presented by those in attendance.
The event was rounded off at around 9:00pm.
